www.hotelposadadelvalle.com – the producer of this guide, as well as a hotel, organic farm, and source of general information on the area (Asturias, Picos de Europa, and others).

Books and maps.

Adrados Ediciones – Picos de Europa maps and guides (www.infopicos.com). Our favourite maps of the area. Three maps – 1:80,000 for the whole range and outskirts; 1:25,000 for the western massif; and 1:25,000 covering the central and eastern massifs. Two guides – one for moderate walks (“Ascents and traverses of difficulty”), and the other for difficult walks and mountain ascents (“Ascents to the main summits and 20 selected traverses”).

“Walks and climbs in the Picos de Europa”, by Robin Walker, published by Cicerone (1989, reprinted 1997). Good area information, plenty of walking and climbing details and route diagrams.

“Picos de Europa National Park visitor’s guide”, published by the Ministry of the Environment (2005). Good information for the area within the boundary of the national park.

“Landscapes of the Picos de Europa, a countryside guide”, by Teresa Farino, published by Sunflower Books (second edition 2001). Small selection of car-tours and walks, centred mainly on the southern and eastern sides of the mountains.

Spanish military maps, published by “Servicio Geográfico del Ejército”, 1:25,000.

“Picos de Europa Parque Nacional Guia”, published by the Ministry of the Environment (2006). Guide and map.
